Access Statement for Ashleigh House

Introduction

Ashleigh House is a Victorian Guesthouse with 8 ensuite Guest Rooms, all of the ensuites have Showers not Baths and are located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the house, and there is no ground floor accommodation. Ashleigh House is located in a quiet area of Kingsbridge; the amenities of the town are a short downhill walk away, so to return there is an uphill walk. The main entrance is a level access, as are the Reception and Dining areas.


Pre-Arrival

• Enquiries for accommodation can be made either by phone or email.
• Kingsbridge town centre is approx 7 minutes walk down hill, it has all the facilities of a busy small town. For Guests wishing to drive into the town the journey should take no more than 5 minutes, there is parking beside the quay and at the top of the town.
• There is a bus station and taxi rank at the quay, local buses go to Plymouth, Exeter, Dartmouth, Totnes and Salcombe. In the summer months it is possible to travel to Salcombe by ferry.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• There is parking for 3 vehicles on the premises and when this is full there is ample free on-road parking to the front and side of Ashleigh House, we are more than happy to assist with the carrying of luggage.
• It is possible to drop off guests a few feet from the main entrance.
• The route from the car park to the entrance is well lit at night.

Main Entrance & Reception

• we are open all year; guests have their own front door key and can access the building when they please. There are no steps from the car park to the main entrance. There is comfortable seating provided in the reception area which is well lit, the floor is level and carpeted.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

• The public areas of Ashleigh House are carpeted throughout.
• Dog water and food bowl are available on request.


Public Areas - WC

• There is an additional WC for Guest's use on the first floor.
Dining Room

• Breakfast is served in the Dining Room which has level access and is carpeted.
• Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
• Quiet background music is played in the dining room.
• We will do our best to cater for any dietary requirements that are advised in advance. We are happy to refrigerate medication, items of food or drink including baby milk.
• We are happy to warm any baby milk.


Laundry
• There is no laundry on site, there is a laundrette in Kingsbridge and we are happy to provide drying facilities for guests.

Shop

• There is no shop on site.

Leisure Facilities

• None available on site.

Bedrooms.


• There are 4 bedrooms on the first floor and 4 on the second.
• En suite facilities are provided in all bedrooms consisting of a shower, WC and wash basin.
• Tea and coffee making facilities are provided.
• Our beds are made with synthetic duvets, additional bedding can be provided if requested.



Outdoor Facilities

• There is seating provided for Guest's relaxation in the entrance conservatory area and on the patio to the front of the house overlooking the mature garden.


Additional Information

• Ashleigh House is a non smoking Guesthouse

• Ashleigh House is fitted with a Fire Alarm, Fire Extinguishers and Emergency Lighting; Fire doors are fitted in accordance with current safety regulations.

Future Plans
• Since becoming the new owners of Ashleigh House in May 2007 we have completely redecorated the hall, stairs and landings.
• Upgraded the Fire Doors to comply with current regulations.
• Totally re-furbished 4 Guest Bedrooms and re-decorated 3 others.

• Re-built the Conservatory entrance area making it more in-keeping with the period of the house.

During the Winter of 2010/11 we plan to re-furbish the large Family room
